Yard work and a halloween party

Laying sod doesn't really take a lot of thought, but it definitely takes muscles! Brad and I spent all of Friday afternoon and a good chunk of Saturday putting in the sod. We had three pallets delivered to the front of our property. Brad had already installed the sprinkler system and the drains. So pretty much all we had to do was pick up each roll of sod (which are HEAVY), walk them to their respective place on the lot and unroll them. Then you have to make sure that each piece of sod is perfectly lined up with all adjacent pieces, and cut them accordingly. Now cutting the sod sounds easy, but it made our knives dull after about 30 minutes, so then it was a bit of a struggle to get them to cut perfectly. But we managed :)

It's such instant gratification. Where there was no yard yesterday, there is now a very pretty piece of grass.

Before

After!

We spent Saturday night and Sunday unpacking. Man do we have a LOT of stuff. Haha. Luckily for us, we got a welcomed break on Sunday because our farm was having a Halloween party! I had such a great time. Everyone dressed up their dogs for the occasion. The dog costumes included: a skeleton, rabbit, cow, tu-tu, headless-horseman, lion and a monkey.

Many thanks to Beth for taking the photos of the dogs. I was too busy trying to convince Zahz to sit, to remember to take photos.

Paddy got into the spirit, too :)

We had egg races, sack races and lots of yummy cider. What a fun way to end the weekend!
